Diploma of Remedial Massage (HLT50307)

The diploma of massage prepares graduates to enter the Allied Health Industry fully equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively and safely manage clients goals and welfare.

On completion of the Diploma of Massage, graduates are eligible for registration with various massage associations and on registration your clients can obtain a rebate from specific health insurers for massage services as well as Workcover entitlements for injured workers.

  • Anatomy and Physiology  Understanding of human function and structure allows therapists to carry out their techniques safely and effectively.
  • Patho Pathology Understanding of abnormal human function and structure.
  • Classic Massage Based on classical European Swedish massage with the aim of creating psychological and physical relaxation for the client.
  • Therapeutic Massage Goal oriented form of massage used not only for relaxation but also as a "curative" method of addressing minor musculoskeletal anomalies.
  • Remedial Massage Goal oriented form of massage used as a treatment in its own right, or used in conjunction with other modalities such as physiotherapy, chiropractics to assist in the bodies healing process and also for a wide variety of muscle and skeletal anomalies.
  • Sports Massage Branch of sports medicine concerned with the preparation, recovery and maintenance of athletic optimal perfomance.
  • Corporate Massage A unique form of massage used to assist psychological stress and poor ergonomics in the corporate setting.
  • First Aid Methods of assisting people in an emergency and/or life threatening situation.
  • Business Management Understanding of best business practices, management and ethical behaviour in the workplace.
  • Research & Professional Development Methods of obtaining relevant information not only for clients, but to allow the therapist to remain informed of current best practices in the field of massage.
  • Communication For Health Practitioners Understanding of medical and allied health field terms to allow therapist to communicate effectively in a health setting.
  • Anatomy Lab Unique experience for therapist to actually feel and visualise the human musculoskeletal system at an intimate level (not compulsory).
